In recognition of the generous legacy of Julia O. Wells, a 1918 graduate of the Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses in Albany, New York, the school’s alumni association endowed the Julia O. Wells Memorial Education Foundation, Inc.
In 1988, the Foundation was created for the purpose of advancing the vital profession of nursing through the support of academic education.
This is achieved by the Foundation:
- Providing a financial award to high school seniors pursuing a career in professional nursing
- Providing financial support to institutions engaged in continuing registered professional nursing education.
The Foundation provides scholarship monies to select colleges and high schools in the greater Capital Region.
